Who it's for

Leaders

You're the one things land on. Decisions, tensions, expectations. You do it well — and yet there's barely a place where you don't have to know the next step.

What you're running into

Always on, and rarely fully alone with yourself.

Your calendar belongs to others. Your attention is split. There's almost no moment where you're not in a role: encouraging, deciding, calm, dependable. That role often suits you — which is exactly why it's so hard to take off.

There's the loneliness of the position. Your doubts can't go everywhere — not with your team, not in the boardroom, and at home you sometimes just don't want to talk about it. So you keep it to yourself, and it grows.

And then there's the question that surfaces in quiet moments: am I still doing this because it's mine, or because this is simply where I am?

Creativity in your life

Leading is creative work.

You might not call yourself creative, but it's almost all you do. You make something that didn't exist yet: a direction, a culture, a story people can move within. You work with uncertainty, with material that pushes back, with an image of something not yet real.

That's exactly what a maker does. The difference is that your material is people and organisations, and your result doesn't hang on a wall.

Good leadership needs imagination, not just analysis. Starve that imagination and leading turns into managing. And managing wears you out.

When you're out of tune with it

What happens when all you do is manage.

Without contact with your own creative side, leadership shifts from setting direction to dampening risk. You keep functioning, excellently even, but there's no life in it.

  • Sharp on content, barely noticing what you feel yourself.
  • Fatigue that a free weekend doesn't fix.
  • Impatient over small things, unmoved by the big ones.
  • You function fine and can't explain why it still feels empty.
  • The sense that a lot is happening, except something that's yours.

What coaching does here

A place where you don't have to be the leader.

In our conversations you don't have to represent anything. No organisational interest, no role-model duty. Just you, and what's really going on.

We look at the patterns that got you this far and where they now get in your way. At what you actually want, apart from what's expected of you. And at how you can bring imagination and desire back into the way you work.

I work mindfully, psychodynamically, systemically and solution-focused — but above all attentively. Slowing down isn't a luxury here; it's the only way to see what speed makes you miss.

Fancy thinking out loud with someone who won't judge it?

A first conversation carries no agenda. We look at where it chafes and whether I'm the right person to walk alongside you.

Prefer to get a feel for it first? There's a free Friday morning drop-in at my home in Utrecht, every Friday between 9 and 11am — 20 to 30 minutes of talking things through, no strings attached.
